Looking at a purchasing a 1996 t4 compass navigator 360L 2.4 diesel as a little project. Done 52k with full service history Needs the stripes putting back down the sides and a few little Jobs inside. Am I mad
As with all motorhomes check for damp. Also check the running gear and underside- they still rot Overpriced compared to other models but if you get it cheap enough you should get your money back if you don't like using it.
It's pretty cheap tbh for what it is. Had a good look underneath and all looks good. Going to go and grab a damp meter on the way and check it over first. Hopefully all will be good
I wouldn’t worry to much about the underneath that’s the easiest bit to fix, damp / rot on the other hand is incredibly difficult and way worse than it seems, these are wooden ladder frames bodies, they rot from the inside out , check seams, sealer, window frames , door frames , water tank, all water pipelines for leaks or evidence of previous leaks , look at some of the rebuild threads etc , don’t confuse low price with cheap Low priced Marmiteter can cost 4 times the price of “an expensive “ one cheap is a good one at a lower price not a Marmiteter at a lower price than a good one
Also, it’s worth remembering that most motor home owners are incontinent, so check for damp around the soft furnishings as well.
then you wont be buying one at all as they pretty much all have damp, bit like saying you wouldnt buy a classic car unless its rust free
