Does anyone make a decent repo aerial?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Gooders, Aug 2, 2020.

  1. I am struggling to find a decent quality replacement retractable aerial. I have fitted a couple of repo ones over the last few years & both have broken at the base. Any one found a decent one?

They are all made out of thin plated brass. Dont exist.

  3. I used the one from Cool Air, but they all look much the same, I'm afraid. Have you tried Schofield's?

Single fixing on the bulge, or dual mounted on the front panel?

  5. If it’s on the bulge, believe Hirschmann still sell the originals.

  6. Not original but I fitted a JK one last week.
Needed filed out a bit but working a treat

My van originally had a single mount type on the bulge, but whilst the aerial was okay, the rubber seal has all but perished away - I couldn't seem to find another one at the same angle to fit. So it got welded up and I took a very deep breath and drilled two holes in the front panel. The aerial looks nice - I rather like the vintage look of the dual mount - but even after buying the best one available from Schofields (I think, maybe Coolair?), the two mounting bits have started to rust. Quite why we can't get decent stainless steel mounting bits, I'm not sure.
