    hi all
has anyone ever fitted a tailgate from an prototype bay into a latebay?

I purchased was I was told was a latebay tailgate ( didn't realise they are different fitting holes) anyway did all the prep work and primed then I thought I would test fit to check gaps etc and boom I discovered they are different.
is there any shortcut to make it fit or should I sell it and buy a new one.

    cheers in anticipation

Sell it. Not sure even replacing the entire mechanism would end with the door in the right place, at a glance similar but you can't mix and match pieces of the mech like you may be thinking.

You can make them fit, but it’s a lot of cocking about, moving and rewelding the captive nut mounts,

    Just source a later panel!

Sent they a different shape I know when I rang just Kampers to order a seal they said one was square at the top corners and the other was more round

Think you’re right, never done it myself, but I think the one I’ve seen done before was a late to an early!

just thought you might like to see the photos to see the difference between early and latebay tailgate hinge captive nut locations.
