  1. And no I am NOT, we will run out of almost everything by Saturday because I have just done normal shopping which lasts us a week. When it is all gone what are we expected to do, when the shops are in fact empty?

  2. The shops are being restocked every night, but nobody posts pictures of well stocked shelves

  5. In all seriousness it does only seem to be supermarkets that are the worst affected. I’m going down the butchers in the market tomorrow to replenish the meat drawer of the freezer but apart from that I shall just be doing a normal shop at weekend..... If I was you I’d get an extra tin of formula though, can’t have the little ‘uns going hungry & they can’t get it themselves!

  7. True about the supermarkets. I can imagine anyone who tries to panic buy meat from my butcher would be told to calm the ***** down.

  8. Rubbish,
I went to sainsbury early hours the stock wasn't there it is still in the system somewhere but not on the shelves

  9. The supermarkets are part of the problem they have made their profits in the first days, they could have stopped this early on by rationing if they wanted to

couldnt give a stuff about corona virus, Lets hope the folk creating shortages by raiding the shelves all get stinking heavy colds or flu from mingling in the supermarket ques and crowded cash isles .. Same folk are the ones who will trample you to death when the pilot says the planes about to crash .. you wont the emergency door open for the folk being crushed ... kinda same mentality that caused most crushing disasters.. Im waiting for the 2020 Tesco's Corona crush .. or the first murder over the last box of Salt n vinegar pringles ... I really cant wait for the mobile networks to crash..that will be priceless., and power cuts .. lets face it more folk at home more pressure on the grid ... equals power cuts ... and all the greedy food hoarders will have freezer meltdowns .. :) of course during all of this the refuse collectors will demand better health and saftey , one will catch a bug from the bins and rotting defrosted food and the rest will stay at home , lol we are supposed to be a civilised society ,, this "crisis" proves that to be a myth .. There are plenty sheep though .. blindly following the media hype .. kinda similar tactic to climate change / global warming abd all the other new worl bull Marmite designed to manipulate and control the population by fear ... Roll on the curfews.. are the going to arrest you for ignoring them , what will they do with you,, jail you ? hardly conducive to the safety of others .. all this shows is how stupid people really are and how much of the population have lost the power of free thought.. .. thats more scary than a virus .. remember , we were all going to die of AIDS in the 80s we all have cancer , were going to die because of diesel emissions , well all drown due to global warming etc .. is it just me or is there a pattern here .. the media TELL you how it is so no need to think for yourself ...

I live in a rural area.. the Italians have cancelled all there shoots , so loads of phesants to be had for free, :)

They way I look at people is, 90% are decent genuine hard working family people with proper values.

That leaves 10% of 66 million not so decent folk.

It seems those 6.6 million people are filling their greedy grabbing boots atm

I quoted this to my wife. She pointed out if they were single people then what they did was reasonable but it was only unfair because they were hoarding. Four people means 4x the amount of consumables consumed.

We had to chuckle when all the pasta was gone.. we went round and bought some Korean ramen noodle packs which were still fully stocked. Where the noodles have optional chili powder in sachets, which we like ..

So the apocalypse that was supposed to be brexit has changed.
Does anyone feel the work put into helping us through that, is now helping us through this.
There are no shortages of anything, just greedy people getting carried away with the hype of empty shelves and following the herd.
This thing could last for at least a year. Is everyone really going to try and stock up for that long?
Come on everyone take a moment to sit down and think it through.

  17. I've just been speaking to a neighbour of mine who is a shelf stacker in Sainsbury's ,overnight and he said it's like Christmas the car park was full up at 7 this morning and have nothing in the shop to buy because the depots haven't caught up with the shops,.

  18. Two hints - but DON’T pass it on. Motorway service stations are stocked to bursting as so few people are travelling. The WH Smiths there have lots of essentials. Tons of paracetamol in one yesterday. I bought ONE pack.
And farm shops are mainly unknown to plebs. My local one has plenty of fresh veg, frozen sausages etc all from local suppliers.
This crisis favours those who can cook too. If you can knock up something from odd ingredients you’ll be fine. I happen to like yams, puy lentils and preserved lemons!
But in case this goes on I’ve planted a zillion veg seeds.

I have thought about it a lot tbh, the primary issue is how unprecedented this all is.

People cite the war, with the UK being unable in fact to feed itself 70 years ago, yet we survived on rationing.

Rationing worked because we had food convoys from the US, Canada and Commonwealth countries not in the conflict.

We will not get that now, as everyone will be in this war.

Better news is that we have a better infrastructure, and supply chains should only be affected by human absence (not bombing) but we don’t know what they absence might be e.g. if 40% of ships crews are told to self isolate, will the ship sale? The missing figure is incalculable I.e. we can’t guess absentees across long supply chains.

I’m not scaremongering. The answer has to be volunteers from other industries coming in to help (anyone remember my question last year on how hard is it to drive a ship ?!) where they can, and the reduction of non essentials like avocados being flown places.

I’m pleased with the government announcement on financial aid (though it doesn’t stretch far enough), and I’d advocate the hive AI modelling that is coming....so your games console and phone might be used out of hours to share processing power.....because a cure is our only answer if we want this not to have huge impacts.

The apparent facts are in 1 years time, 5 years time etc etc there will be at least 80% of humans left, cure or no cure, as long as this thing doesn’t mutate or be able to reinfect those previously ill.

World trade is what stops wars, I think we need to shore that trade up initially with volunteers.

Appreciate this is a touch fatalistic.....my immediate thoughts are how do we shore up the NHS in the next 2 months?

    On a different note.....farm shops!

We’ve recently moved to South Wales from the midlands.

We used to go to a couple of farm shops up there and have found a couple down here.

Local produce my foot, must be at least 90% of it is generic across both areas. Unless they mean local is in fact the UK!
