Got some new repairs some kindly soul has arranged for me with an air rifle! Is it best to pull them out a bit before filling? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
I would just stick some tape over the holes for now. They may come back for more. Is the van parked on your driveway? You should get an idea of which direction and angle the shots were fired from. I would be concerned whatever they fired, the bullet went through the steel and cratered the surface so pretty powerful weapon used. Have you informed the Police? The van damage is fixable, what is worrying is some nutter is out there with a firearm. Any reports of other vehicles being shot at? My old house was shot at many years ago, breaking windows and damaging internal walls. We worked out the likely source of the pellets and sure enough Police raided the house across the street and found it was their teenager son.
Police informed but not too much hope there... Not pierced just a good dent, found one 0.22 pellet sqashed on drive so pretty sure it's a "drive by" or maybe a quick stop at end of drive , happened on two separate occasions 3 hits so far. Moving it hopefully later but I'm in middle of engine rebuild at moment so not too far! Cameras going up.. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
get a bell door bell camera thingy they work wonders! ive already had a "chat" with a neighbor for urinating down our drive
Bastards. Ideally you want to pull them out, or hammer them from behind if you can get to them. And defo get a camera and some small incendiary devices....
I would think the metal is too stretched and distorted now to do anything with apart from filling it or making a feature of it.
B’strds. That is such a low thing to do. Makes me wonder if my JK cover has any ballistic properties ? Maybe for a low velocity air gun pellet. Hope you get it sorted for a reasonable cost. Stirlingmoz
How crappy. Just fire another round from the inside to pop it back out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I would at least sand and paint the damage to stop rust . But long term I would simply fill the dents and spend time lovingly sanding it, then collect more stone chip damage before worrying about respraying the whole panel. If you welded it, I think the back is inaccessible for the top dent so doing more damage cutting and welding would speed rusting from behind. And you would still end up with a patch of filler.
oooh that looks good these "people" from ilford now live round the corner and have a ferrari and a bentley on the drive that would be funny! https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p07f4lkn/supercar-superfam-series-2-episode-1
To update on this, I have fitted a filter and put some cleaner/descaler in and 2 days later it’s running better than it has for years. Will start saving for a new one but to be honest 17years with just 2 hot water exchangers (we are in a hardwater area) and a pcb 10years ago isn’t bad. Out of interest what’s the rules on fitting the boiler including a new condenser line and then someone gassafe connecting the gas and commissioning it
I would park your van out of public view from now on. Someone local to you may be jealous of what you have. Couple of years back I had the mgb on the driveway to do some work on it in the sunshine, popped indoors to make some tea, came out and found some pikey spitting over it.
