Once you get stuck in, it'll be fine . Just follow your nose. Plug thread from memory is 14mm x 1.25, but I'd avoid using helicoils on plugs. They may get baked on, and come out with the plug later. Inserts are better in my experience.
I had helicoils on my earlybay 20 years ago... a big bang and a dent in the side of the engine bay as it threw a plug while driving through a small village outside Southampton was the start of taking these engines apart!
Waiting for wind and rain to move on for a bit, van outside so need the annual Indian summer to turn up? Then will go for it.
I know but a bit pricey. Hoping I only need a couple of inserts. Have access to most of the other bits.
