Tin top roof crossmembers/ribs

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by leflipflop, Sep 15, 2019.

  1. Morning all..

My tin top roof cross members at the A position and B positions do not touch the roof skin and there is surface rust between the support and skin.. is this common. Should i be addressing this issue

    Many thanks [IMG][IMG]

I they have sealer to bind them to the roof, clean the rust and fill the void with fresh adhesive sealer

  3. My concern is the roof skin under the entire rib is paint free.. and i cant access it all? Should i be going to the extreme of removing the rib .. clean prime refit etc?

  6. That's ok, removing the roof rib to paint under it then rewelding is a lot of work. If you really want to do something, you could poke some sandpaper about in the gap to get the surface rust off, then spray some aerosol paint in through the gap, or use a small brush and dab some about.

In reality, I'd probably just pump some panel adhesive in the gap and leave it be.

    Good luck with your project
