Loved it, sadly we live in the wrong bit of the UK to be called surfers.

Watergate Bay was my favourite but my best surf ever was in Strand hill in Sligo

  3. Once at Newquay but at an age I couldn't jump to me feet. Was way past my first making a noise getting up out of a chair. Mrs P kicked ass.

  7. I’ve used the word “dude” several times. Does that count?

Yes, although I switched to knee boarding as they were better camera platforms.

One of mine from about 1974, taken at Cronulla Point.

Tried in Newquay about 14 years ago, but it wasn’t the best day for learning apparently.

I live by the sea and have recently taken up paddle boarding, which is a bit more serene (most of the time) than surfing, but being on the water is good for the head regardless of method!

Should be doing some wind surfing lessons soon... it seems a bit more suited to our stretch of coastline.

Yes, but not for a while.
Another reason why I bought a vw. My bro in law lives in Falmouth, and my wife’s family are Cornish, so I’ve been many times.Been to Surfenders once with you lot on here( or was that the jk forum? ). Can’t remember... Met Caveman and Caveman’s dad. You know ‘em?

Yes. Used to head down to Devon, Cornwall and the Gower and it was where I first decided I wanted a Bay.
I was never much good at it though and haven’t been for years.
Living in the South East where it’s harder to find decent waves didn’t help.
Was surprised to see about 25 surfers at Birling Gap in East Sussex on Friday night though, doing well on short ‘Fish’ boards. I’d never be able to get up on one of those, just wasn’t good enough!

  12. When I lived in California I used to surf loads. Also did loads of parachute jumps, then me and a group of mates would rob banks wearing masks of ex presidents. Great times.

Oh no hang on, am I getting confused with point break? Hmmmmm

I only did it for fun. There’s a big difference between doing it as a bit of fun and doing it seriously. I could stand on a board and eventually fall off.

Was that to fund your ‘endless summer’?

  17. Did once and dislocated my toe. Easily put back in. Surfing is for little rubber people, apparently.
