Borrowing a parts washer in the morning to clean case etc. Am I best to not clean crank in case of rusting. One of the bearings are seized anyway, all other internal parts are soaking in fresh oil just crank too big. Engine is single port so wanting to reuse as much as I can again but would doghouse and all relevant parts with the larger cooler be any benefit or not. Sent from my SM-A405FN using Tapatalk
If a bearing has seized on it will need a grind or polish anyway, just wipe a bit of oil on after and don't worry too much
^this. It may need a grind, so leave the cleaning till later. Take the con rods off and see what state the journals are in. They may need doing as well.
good plan will remove rods, the flywheel end bearing seized and the pulley wheel one has sideways movement too.......
Once you have it stripped have a close look at the journals & measure up. If it’s looking a bit iffy get it reground. If it looks ok give it a good clean particularly through the oil drillings with carb or brake cleaner then a liberal coating of oil.
Everything cleaned, crank needs tlc but hoping that is being looked at, whilst waiting for opinions. How can I clean heads/valves better with emery cloth etc around valve guides and in ports. A valve in 1 and also 2 were rusted in. Sent from my SM-A405FN using Tapatalk
