Evening all, Need some help, please! Was travelling home from two weeks in Cornwall this evening and the oil light flickered! Checked the nearest Halfords and got as fast as I could to Torquay. Arrived here at 8.03 and they had shut. Does anyone know a petrol garage that might stock suitable engine oil or have an alternative idea? Cheers Chris
Yes...but your oil light is telling you that your oil pressure’s low, not that you’re running out of oil. Slow down a bit
I presumed the level had been checked and was on the brink !! ?? Maybe. How has he gone fast traffic today has been poo
When you find some , get one small 1 ltr one and pop it behind your rear lights , to keep there and use in emergency for top up. One each side is best when you get chance
If anything, the van will appreciate it having cooler air running through it’s system. Goes better, on fat, cold air!
On a long trip its worth checking oil every time you stop for petrol, some engines get through a fair amount. When the oil light flickers at a traffic light, just speed up the engine until the light goes out. Dont stop the engine as it gets even hotter just after switchoff, such that a 5 minute stop may become permanent. If you are running20W/50 already, start budgeting for some eventual £500 (poking around by garage) to £2500+ (all new).engine work...
