    Today, tomorrow and Friday afternoon!

  3. Is it the weekend of 13th/14th your home and fixing brakes?
Give me a shout if it is, I'll come up and collect my wheels and give you a hand too (if you want it). It's bugger bleeding brakes on your own and little'un's too short :D

Just tried to put it back together so I can use it next weekend and worry about it after, and I can’t get the sodding pistons back in far enough to get the pads in. Any ideas?
There isn’t anything to lever them against apart from the disc and I doubt that’s a good idea....

  5. The callipers need a refurb Doug
Or if you can’t be arsed

I’ve just bought and fitted a new pair that comes with a pad fitting kit from this seller
They are exactly the same as the originals even the piston cut outs.

  6. Take the mounting bolts out hold the calliper in your hand and use a g clamp to squeeze the pistons back in.

  7. Lever against the disc is fine, buy new calipers mate, not worth the agro https://brakeparts.co.uk/shop/VW/TR...BI/Front - Brake Calipers and Wheel cylinders

  8. The reason they are sticking is because the outer dust seals are knackered and Marmitee will have got into the pistons and corroded them up.

Even after pushing them back you will most likely find they will stick again.

It’s not safe to use to be honest mate

The pads look okay to me, the discs are a bit iffy and I’d replace them.

Ever thought about coming to a field near Lutterworth ??

  18. ^this. Change your pads if you’re putting in new discs. You may be able to get the muck off, but you can’t be sure they’re flat (they probably aren’t).

If your pistons are seized they are not going to work when you need them. Never compromise brakes, steering and suspension. Anything else is an inconvenience. Defective stopping and steering can end up far worse than a wait for a tow truck
