How did you go about getting a fixing for the 3 point belt bracket Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I used one of Davidoft's fancy pants brackets fixed to a framework I welded to the side of the van. Details here: A restoration for Iris - Rear seat belt bracket
Cheer James,I’m a bit too far along to do more welding now, guess I could bolt in some lap belts through the sloping floor instead.mines a panel conversion too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hello, I am currently replacing my deformation panel on my 73 bus. I am also using the Brazilian repro. I was wondering if you ended up trimming the top flange of your deformation panel as you had mentioned. In my repair, I repaired the inner valence as it was not in bad condition. The new deformation panel looks a bit taller than then the original. I took about a 1/4 inch off the top flange to make the bottom flanges line up better. Clamped up, the lower flange is still a bit lower/longer than the valence flange, but seems to fit a lot better. Thanks for the help, James
Hi, From memory yes I did end up shaving some of lower lip down (think I left the top lip alone). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fantastic work James, I love the nice parallel even length exposed stitches, something I know is not possible with my sewing machine, what are you using?
Thanks Martin. It took quite a bit of practice keeping the stitches straight. I had to abandon my first rear hatch card as it looked terrible (two adjacent pleats were about 1/8" out which was really noticeable so I re-did them). I treated myself to an industrial walking foot machine as I costed up paying someone to do the upholstery and worked out it was cheaper to buy a decent machine and do it myself (plus I love having a new skill/tool to learn). I'm all tooled up for future projects for me (maybe projects for others?). Max wasn't best pleased when we realised we couldn't get the machine up the stairs to the spare room so it's now not so subtly sat in the corner of our living room (still convincing her there is an "industrial charm" to it).
Thanks mate. A welcome change working on the van from the comfort of my living room without being covered in dust, rust and general filth.

Looks fab @JamesLey . Also, how rude am I? Seal arrived safe and sound thanks. I was away a bit so had to pick it up from the sorting office. Cheers
Rear bed cushion finished tonight. Put through quality control by Max and B and installed in the van. We’re ready for basic camping now!
Continuing with the van upholstery I got the roof bed cushions all made up and installed over the weekend. The rear one is gigantic and interesting to try and man handle around the sewing machine. B sat and watched the kids on our street for 10 minutes or so. He loves it up there. I’ve stripped down both front seats now to start making new covers for them. The frames overall are in pretty good condition, however the drivers back had cracked: Quick tickle with the welder and good as new:
