Show me your cool boxes

  1. It’s one of the longer chest ones but only used it a few times on short trips.

  2. I think it’s probably too big for what I need.

  3. Not of mine but this is the same one. 1950s with tap

I will try and work it out. I painted it in crimson gloss paint as the metal grille was quite grey and chipped and rusty before.

  11. I've emailed lidl to ask 'How many quorn veggie sausages can this cool box fit in?'

    I'm awaiting their reply

  14. For exactly this reason we got one of these
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spark-charger-folding-motorhome-campervan/dp/B06XHQ7FFF

Trialled it and it works enough to top the battery up while the TV is running, but we haven't trialled it running the coolbox yet

Looks quite good. I cant see if it has a charge controller.
If it does not then you need a controller if you were using this panel for a longish period and it manages to increase the charge in the battery.
No controller : spare energy will be used converting your battery electrolyte to hydrogen and oxygen , gradually reducing its capacity as surely as leaving it flat all the time.

  16. Lidl's reply:

    Dear Paul Calf

This has to be one of the strangest questions we have ever been asked.

The cool box has a 30L capacity, which is equivalent to 30,000 grams.

A packet of 6 quorn sauasages weighs 250g.
    S0 30,000 divided by 250 = 120 packs or 720 sausages.

This calculation is based on unwrapped sausages - it does not take into account the size and weight of packaging.

We would also remind you to factor in storage room for condiments such as ketchup.

Plus if you plan on having a 'sausage fest' I suggest you will need to save some cool box capacity for beer, gin and tonic.

Any further questions please don't hesitate to ask.

  17. It's exceptionally compact when folded up, and is easy to move around

It comes with an integrated/hard wired charge controller, I checked that before purchase as it wasn't clear.

One issue I have is -
    • It definitely charges the leisure battery, the module in the van shows it.
    • It has settings for different types of leisure battery, and I don't know which type mine is
    • I just plug it onto the battery without using any setting, I don't know if this will kill the battery one day
