Thought it was a good place to start learning what these things actually do and how they do it. I'm having issues with one of the carbs I'm running on the buggy - identical carbs to the bus so I want to get better at understanding them.
Thanks Milo. I did find that one but unfortunately it seems it's a library version (???) and isn't available at the moment.
There’s not much to them if they have been jetted right. Key thing is to set the floats right and make sure they are opening at the same time.
I have Bob Tomlinson's Weber Tech Manual, it’s okay but there is nothing in it that you can’t find on the net. What carbs do you have and what’s the issue?
Twin Weber IDF40s - models 68 &69 (originally from an Alfa, I believe). I had a bad misfire at low revs. Narrowed it down to the idle circuit on the rhs carb into #2 cyl. Couldn't clear it after 2 weekends (ultrasonic cleaned it and then soaked it in carb cleaner before blasting all the airways and channels with compressed air) so gave up and handed it over to the guy that set it up on the rolling road last time. He's still got it but he thinks he's solved it. No idea what it was yet. As I have the identical carbs on both vehicles, I figured it was worth learning all about them.
EZGZ is maybe a step up from RagaMuffyn Garage but I wouldn’t let him anywhere near my engine either.
I watched the one where he drilled and tapped a takeoff for an oil filter. I had to stop watching after a few minutes of butchery.
