Last September i did a 10 week classic car restoration course, which taught me how to weld, fill and paint. Completing the course means I can go back with the van for another 10 weeks ‘returners’ course to work on it. Last week was the first one where I started to reaves the problems. Any advice as I go would be gratefully received! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
First big job are the gutters, I took all the rust of back to very little bare metal! Forgot to get an after pic but I will have to replace about 70%. Looking on here it seems that Schofield’s are the ones that most people are recommending. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
It’s at North Hertfordshire College in Stevenage, not that near but haven’t seen anywhere else do an equivalent course. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Not how I wanted to get home from college last night. I rang the RAC at 8:30, a mechanic came out to tell me what Mike had already said, arranged a pickup guess what time they came....2:22AM!! Should have listened to Mike! View attachment 74042
So what I think I need to do is put back the old dizzy to confirm that there is a fault with the new one, and reset the timing. To do this I need a timing gun and a quick search on here suggest this one will be enough... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Truth is I feel like I’m causing myself a whole heap of trouble!! Will get worse before its better! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
That there may be a problem with the condenser not producing enough spark on the new dizzy Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
someone near you must have a timing gun you can borrow - or i can send you @Jack Tatty's one but you probably need it soon?
Thanks Lisa, I think it’s probably worth having one, and I can pay for it with the compensation that RAC are giving me for last nights debacle! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
i do like the idea of a tool collective, i know we do that a lot on here but when i was doing my underbelly @Lasty sent me lots of useful things to borrow
Can’t see from the pictures on my phone if this is one, but the ones with the dial on the back to set advance are a good option. Mines got that, so I can set 7.5 and 28 and not have to lookout for extra notches on the big pulley thing, just the tdc one. Sorry to hear about the ride with the RAC
