Can be done in a field easily, this is a mates van which we did the wheel bearing in the campsite at Spa.
knock old race out and then cut a slot through it, then you can use it to push new race back in. (top tip have something to cut the old race with, eh @Mattlad)
Take your dust cap off, fill it with sharp sand, drive to TE. By the time you get there there will be nothing left to knock out
I did mine a few years ago too and I was foooked. No need for shmancy pants brass drifts etc. Smack the old fcker out, smack the new fcker in. Happy days.
Yes a bench mounted chopSaw to get through the hardened metal would be ideal- I unfortunately removed the workshop fittings in lieu of a camping interior when we started a family - how foolish I felt.
