Unfortunately the bump stops have been cut off by one of the previous owners.
It's on 15" wheels with low profile Tyres & bottoms out on the anti roll bar !.

    Depends how its been lowered.
    Cut and turned beam?
    Dropped spindles?

  3. What's the difference between stock and dropped spindles in size? If it's cut & turned beam can you tell buy if it has welding around the adjustment area? Sorry to be vague used to working on old bikes not old vw thanks Martin.

I don't know the size difference in spindles.

If it's cut and turn, it'll have adjusters welded to the beam that look like this:

  6. Don't think it's been altered on the beam , looks clean & original ! Could it have been lowered just by altering the torsion bars ? If that's not a silly question ?

Adjusters effectively alter the torsion bars I think, so if there's no sign, I'd imagine its got dropped spindles on.

  8. Ok thanks for your help , I will ring heritage & asked them the size of the stock spindles & see if they match ? Many thanks for your help Martin.

To identify what you’ve got, post some pics of the centre of the 2 torsion tubes forming the beam (upper and lower), and also a pic towards the inside of the front wheels showing where the beam arms attach to the spindles/hubs.

  10. Is the arb underneath the lower tube (factory location)? Quick fix would be to re-mount the arb on top of the lower arms instead of underneath - will work just the same and give you more ground clearance.
