Been in tears last 2 days. Sent my van for a cheap spray job and it's come back damaged.

  3. i certainly don't want to make things worse, it's horrible when you put your trust in people and they don't deliver :(
unfortunately many get away with it because to pursue it prolongs the horribleness with little hope of a satisfactory resolution.

  4. So the sprayer was paid directly for the paint job. The sprayer hired the tow truck firms. The sprayer was paid a separate amount for the towing. The sprayer paid the towing firm.

The sprayer messed up the paint job. The towing firm messed up the van.

  5. can we not call him a sprayer ! what retard would paint over a *****ing big dent ....
The force required to rip the exhaust off would be huge and would have caused damage to the engine /gearbox . There is or should be a bracket that support some of the weight that goes from the left join of the back box to the engine case , M8 bolts from memory , also the alternator bracket goes to the right heat exchanger ...

personally id be surprised if you get any money back ...but I hope I`m wrong

Could that exhaust have been ripped off hard as if being driven fast in reverse?

  8. Its a sad story this one, but a hard lesson in how not to get work done on a vehicle. Paying up front was the first mistake, trusting the cowboys was the second and not checking the paint job at the painter's premises was the third.

We have had folks on here who have paid very large sums upfront to unscrupulous restorers and because they placed everything on trust and didn't keep a close eye on what was being done, eventually they discovered they had been ripped off and taken for a ride.

We really hope the blue van mess can be resolved.

You’ve obviously not driven a few off here.

I did hear of a blue one whizzing down the M5 in the vicinity of Brizzle doing 85. Seeing as it was the Sunday of techenders I strongly suspect a coider drinking carrot crunching mod of this here site. ;)

My old one would easily do 85! I’ve driven it pretty fast in reverse across Brean sands, too. Yes, you could rip an exhaust off, or similar.

Edit ... Just seen @Dubs link ... @janerodger I feel for you as you clearly want to draw a line under this, which means they've kind of "won", but are you still going to chase anyone?
