Looking at purchasing a louvered window for my bus, do all the types (Devon or west) fit a genuine microbus shell with factory side windows or do different ones exist for panel van cut outs?
There are some windows for panel vans, the majority are for windowed vans, westy ones are all for windowed vans.
i'm jumping on the louvre band wagon with a question: are the windows left- or right hand side specific? i mean if I get two random windows from different sources, will they fit or is there something to watch out for? I know the winding knob can be on different sides on the inside, but I don't really mind that.
It depends who cut the hole for the window. Mine was presumably cut in by David Blunkett. I ended up having to graft in fresh metal. Panel van louvred windows do exist (they have a curved profile). Mine is just a standard Devon(?) louvred window. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mine is a RHD Westy. Both louvres have the open/close knob on the right hand side as you look at the window from the inside. Unsure, but certainly one would be blocked by the wardrobe were it left hand knobbed. Unsure if they are all the same of or different and if they can be swapped, but knob access is a consideration.
Mine’s a LHD ’77 Westy Both knobs are towards the back, so on the left looking at the LH window and, on the right, looking at the RH window, from the inside.
I have RHD Westy 73 and the slider has the knob on the right when viewed from inside, consequently if you fit the knob it ends up as the door stop! So I think it must have been swapped for the wrong side at some point.
Mine is a 73 RHD Westy. Both knobs are opposite each other. The one on the sliding door is on the left looking at the door from the inside and the other is on the right again looking at it from the inside. Sent from my SM-J320FN using Tapatalk
I have the distinction of having managed to fit a Devon style louvre window into my left hand sliding door. This entailed relieving the frame to clear the body when the door opens. Tony
I have louvres each side. A Westy. Knobs are right handed side for cooker window and left handed for sliding door.
The most commonly Westy windows found are the right hand sided opening mechanisms - meaning if fitted either side one will be at the back on the right hand side and the nearside will be facing the front of the van. I've got both but only 1 with the left handed side opener.
