Following on from @Barry Haynes thread about what we all actually do, I'm a bit intrigued as to what we all wanted to do, or would do in an ideal world. Let's face it, work is one of those things that we have to do (well, unless you really are incredibly lucky and rich!), but it's not always exactly what we dreamed of. I always wanted to run a second hand record shop, preferably with a café attached. I'd still love to do it. What about you?
I always wanted to own a VW breakers yard to feed my passion and earn a crust, but the set up cost of a yard and storage always stopped me!
Not fussed really, so long as started at 12:00 ended at 13:00 and had an hours lunch. And Friday's off.
Actually really I wanted to be a Policeman (how 1970's) and I was, then I changed my mind and decided that I was mistaken and didn't want to be a Police officer. Now I fix printers and it's OK. So I guess I'm lucky really. I had a stab at the job I wanted, now it's just a way of earning to do the things I want to do.
Always wanted to be a mechanic ever since I can remember so left school and enrolled in college unfortunately I was young and stupid and thought going out partying was a better idea so dropped out and have worked in factories ever since Currently running an extruder machine in the food sector Oh if I could do it all again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Neither is working in a factory My mom even said ever since I was little I wanted to be a mechanic drive a classic beetle and have a basset hound lol Never done any of them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Leaving school in the mid 1970 in a coal mining area i was desperate to NOT be a miner. Despite numerous interviews to be a apprentice fitter engineer mechanic in fact anything using my hands to produce something , I never got such a job. I am sure I would have made a great fitter.
If I'd gone in at 18 I'd be 5 years off retirement now. But at 18 I was a complete bell end (where as now I'm only a minor one) and wouldn't have been suitable. I was 30 when I joined. How old do you think I am? (48 to save you checking my profile)
They're bloody horrible - one bit me at Whipsnade when I was a kid. They're the Victor Meldrew of the horse world.
Yeah, but I don't like horses so I figure at least Zebras are interesting. I mean, what the hell kind of evolution invented something that was black & white striped? Definitely my favourite African animal. (Penguins being favourite over all)
Wasn't that one of the jobs that came up on @Kkkaty's job search website? As I'm probably going to lose my job / be made redundant in the next year, I might have to have a look at it!! Can you remember the name of the website?
You wouldn't want a basset hound in your bus ...all his relentless slobber would pour out through the holes in your floor .
You need to be a mechanic to own a classic beetle then the bassett hound....dont bother they stink, drool everywhere and howl like a wolf to the moon! Only good thing about a bassett is Columbo had one
