It's been 25 years since I owned an air cooled vdub but since UUV 582F lost the battle for an MOT we've owned a variety of VWS. Polo, golf mk 1,2,3 and still run a mk 4 which seems indestructible. With the kids still at an age where they still want to spend time with Mum and Dad we took the plunge and spend some of our hard earnt on a very late bay. An unfinished project but one where most of the hard work had been done. The welding, painting and most of the interior being finished, just the engine and other mechanicals to finish. Darren at DC Hot Rods built the engine which now fitted makes this van fly. Still work in progress, we've still to fit a kitchen and build some bunks in the pop top but looking forward to a busy winter in the garage. This summer the four of us made it to Skegvegas, Northumbria, the lakes and more recently Dubs int Dales. It's been great spending time together without the usual distractions and my girls are learning about engines, bearings, cv joints and all the other stuff that currently live on the garage floor. Found the mech section of the forum most useful over the last few months and hope to pass on some of my experiences some time. Still a novice but enjoying getting my hands oily. Hope to meet as many of you as possible over the coming months/years along with our van Lila. War and peace over!

Just looked at your profile page and see you've got a "follower". Don't get too excited as it's @Poptop2 and he's known as more of a stalker really! Just be careful when you get a PM from him!!!
