Want to bring power into the slider. Anyone know of a decent source of spring-loaded contacts? Only needs to be two pole. @77 Westy ? Ta.
I can’t remember where I bought mine but it’s one of these - https://www.qualitymobilevideo.com/5914.html
It is indeed for the slider locking motor. It’s currently in a box with several other bits awaiting to be fitted when I get aroundtoit. Let me know where you fit yours so if it’s wrong I won’t make the same mistake. Have you worked out how to connect the motor to the lock yet?
Der I didn’t read it properly, I really shouldn’t be on here while I’m in the fast lane on the M25 I’m just about to order one, thanks
All very interesting so are you trying to have external central locking via Bluetooth...or whatever Probably need to rob a golfs central locking system and re-group.
No. I suspect it's not going to be as straightforward as the cab doors. Door card coming off anyway, so I thought I might have a look-see. If it looks major, I'll skip it. It's in on the cab doors already, driven from the alarm and radio key. Can work it manually with the key, tho'. I wouldn't be without it - well worth doing, IMHO.
Biggest hassle is having to drill holes in the door pillars, if they're not there already. Apart from that, pretty straightforward.
Thanks. I hate drilling holes in to the bodywork specially some thing like a B pillar. Like the idea but fortunately all my locks work fine at the moment.
Aah, but can you operate them withought getting the key out of your pocket ? The standard locks stay. The morors operate them by yanking on the rod to the pushbotton on the door ledge. Need holes in the A-post, which may be there already for speakers.
Cab doors are easy, the slider is more difficult. There are no existing holes in the B pillar but drilling holes and fixing the contacts is the easy bit. Getting the cables up the A pillar, across the top of the door and down the B pillar is tricky with the headlining fitted – and I’m not taking that out unless I really have to. I got cables down the B pillar for the light switch and a 12v socket so I should be able to get another couple of wires down there. The mod to the slider for the motor can be done neater than the YouTube guy did it but the panel covers the hole anyway. A winter project maybe, but I’ve been saying that for several years and I still have a 2.3l engine to build and I’ve had all the parts for that for 18 months or so. At least the electric windows work now for a few years I couldn’t open the cab windows at all.
