Hi everyone. I got my 1977 bus now called Bella at the start of August and I’m off to my first VW Festival Busfest this weekend. Looking forward to seeing some other late bays and get some advice on looking after mine. Little history and details about my bus Originally it was orange now it’s Niagra Blue? And white Or something similar. I believe it was a panelvan for some years and then converted but I don’t know who did the conversion hopefully someone might be able to identify it. It has a pop top that raises front and back using scroll tension springs. Opposite the sliding door it has 2 Louvre windows opened by levers. The cooking area and storage is down one side. The previous owner did a Subaru EJ20 engine conversion. Using 2.0 Nasp 2001 engine from an Impreza. It’s got a type 091 6 rib gearbox. Probably the best bit though is the Subaru Recaro Seats very comfy. So far the best fix I have done is the Scat gear shifter needed some grinding to increase its range of movement so I could actually select 1st. The clutch cable and Bowden tube needed refitting and adjustments so I don’t need to press the clutch through the floor. After doing those it’s actually fun to drive. It does need a lot more work though before I’ll feel it’s complete. Went for a drive round Matlock and Crich last week and she handled the hills and steep climbs like a mountain goat. I’m also on the latebay Facebook group Rhom - James
