Wild camping is so easy here, and you’re spoiled for choice as to where you stop. At the moment we’re sat in a pub next to the harbour in a tiny town called Kilmackillogue on the Beara peninsular and the vans parked 50 feet away overlooking the harbour itself. After our Murphy’s (or two) we’ll cook tea (spaghetti bolognese and crusty bread) and go for a walk and take some pics for the blog.
Loads of campsites though as well and we’re going into a site every three or four days just for a shower.

It is Mark, I can thoroughly recommend it, it’s a wee bit more expensive than the U.K. though.

Hiya, we’ve got six weeks but I don’t think we’ll get all the way round the coast to Northern Ireland in that time which was our original plan. There’s so much to see that we’ll probably only get up as far as Galway and then cut across country to Dublin and then get the ferry back home via Liverpool.

That must be why the pub’s just emptied.

  11. Cool, you are as well off to not rush it, Donegal took us two weeks alone. We're on the Eirball run in two weeks https://eireball.com/. We'll be in Donegal on the 12th, Sligo on the 13th, Mayo on the 14th, Galway on the 15th, Limerick on the 16th and Kerry on the 17th. We might see ye on the way:thumbsup:

I’ve just had a very nice PM from @Rez who also mentioned Éireball as well, I’ll have to settle down with some maps and work out if we can cross paths.
Can’t do it at the moment though as I’m stuffing my face with chocolate cake in a cafe in Kenmare. Or Neidín as the lady next to me told me.

  13. This is for you as you stuff your face, nice spin into Killarney from there. (It was all on the new top gear with a convertible Rolls Royce, Joey from friends was driving).

Haha, ironically we’re sat in a cafe in Killarney now (still stuffing our faces) after a smashing drive over the mountains via Moll’s gap, Ladies view and Tork waterfall through the Killarney national park.

Sounding great Bob, it’s a trip I did years ago by car when I was over working in NI and had a couple of weeks to spare. Need to go back and take it slower in the van I think. Will subscribe to the blog and have a more in-depth read and look at the photos!

Bob, if you need a spot to stay on Achill let me know, a very good family friend has a house (or two) there and he will gladly offer his driveway or whatever space his has :)

Cheers Louey, Achill Island is the one where you can drive on but the causeway disappears when the tide comes in isn’t it? I’ll give you a shout if we get that far north but we’re bimbling quite slowly and stopping often so may not get that far up.

If you're still in Kerry, head over to Valentia Island. It's beautiful, stunning views of the Skelligs and a great heritage centre. The Bridge Bar in Portmagee has great food and a brilliant atmosphere - say hi from me to Gerrard who owns it.

Do any of you guys know what this flower is? There’s great swathes of it in Ireland and it grows like a weed along the roadsides.
