Has anyone else noticed the increase in ( extreme ) right wing postings on FB?

I assumed it was people bombing kids concerts, mowing down pedestrians, stabbing innocents in the middle of the streets that got people's backs up...

Most of which happened under labour and Tory governments.

  2. Not to be un peu pedantique but it was his English translator who attributed the quote to Voltaire . More apt for this discussion i would think would be his credo:"Judge a man by his questions rather than his answers". Hopefully this doesn't turn out like Shearer v Sharma.

  3. ... perpetuating the myth that all immigrants/muslims are terrorists. of course, fear is usually at the heart of knee-jerk responses but press and governments echoing the racist rhetoric of britain first/edl etc was and is not a responsible response and only increases the bigotry.

I love the way "flags" are seen as somehow right wing??

About a gazillion people shared some sh1tty cartoon on arsebook this week asking people to think whether they were "a massive racist or not" before flying a flag.

Get over yourselves you virtue signalling morons.

I do like a bit of flag waving.

John Lennon wouldn't have approved though. Imagine?

  6. ...and yet they are mostly used by right wing groups. so less 'virtue signalling' (though i don't see a problem with virtues) and more fact.

  8. arse :)

true.... national flags are disproportionately used by nationalist groups (as they're national symbols i would assume) and in particular right wingers like BF, EDL etc and therefore patriotism ('are country') becomes synonymous with racist agendas.

though the nazi salutes against St.Georges flags

Probably no where is worse in the UK at using the flag as a symbol of hatred than the streets of Belfast. It still exists and I fear it won't go away too soon either.

I'm sure they are used by right wing groups, but to assume that anyone displaying them is; is complete and utter BS.

  11. So what about all the England flags that are flying at the moment?

They can also represent pride in your country which I would say is rather more widespread than the more extreme examples quoted.

Pride in our country is not allowed according to (hand wringing) lefties.

  13. Tough - I'm proud to be English/British and "and therefore patriotism ('are country') becomes synonymous with racist agendas." is complete twaddle to put it mildly.

  17. But this Nationalist group is ok to use a flag because (allegedly) they are left wing?

  20. yes it is... but to deny that they have become synonymous with the right is daft. the edl logo is a st.georges flag.

yes football.... and a lot of the old away day bruisers are now tommy robinson etc supporters too. i guess they got banned from the stands and wanted to find another fight...?
