Because i do have other jobs rather than posting stuff what people pay peanuts for, then moan about the cost of postage too. The light units are bulky don't want to but packaging to pay it up. I take it you don't want to come and collect it then.
I think it's generally accepted on ebay that the spread of potential customers across the country means items will (mostly) be able to be posted. Engine blocks etc obviously not, although at the end of the day, pretty much anything is courier-able if you've got the time and energy to sort it out. Most ebay buyers read the first few lines of an item description, if they read anything of it at all. The thing is, as a seller you want as many people as possible to see your listing to therefore stand more change of finding someone to buy it, but unless you offer postage you're only actually appealing to buyers who live in, say, a 20mile radius (of which there are a lot less, obviously). How far would you drive for an item that cost you £20, for example? Or would you cheekily ask the seller if they could bung it in the post for an extra £3?
Did you know Barry in South Wales is 99 miles as the crow flies from my house. I had engaged an eBay distance filter of 100 miles...
Barry in East Grinstead would’ve been closer, you should’ve gone to him instead Seriously though, that’s a good point about the eBay distance filter.
gumtree is as bad.. the add has a map and your address... and people ask where abouts are you ... then will you take 50%... i just ignore daft texts
does not always work .. i see things that are 15 miles away .. but there in brum which is 50 miles away
They sent me a heated one nicely packaged up I believe JK stipulate "collection only" for their Devon roof cap.
I bought a windurf harness for 99p, collection only in Chelmsford , similar ones sell for £30 if posted . I asked a friend from Chelmsford to collect it for me . the seller said " I dont want people coming to the house , he can meet me in asda car park " !! So thats collect in person in a neutral location then !! Not seen that on a listing..
a mate of mine does "meet at the end of the road" says he doesn't want scumbags coming to his house ...
All the guy said ( about 6 times ) to my friend was "its a bargain , these sell for over £20 normally ".
Just cancelled the order for the numpty who bid then said post. Emailed the winning bidder if the used unit offering him the new unit too at a reduced rate and he said yes thank you. He knows he had a bargain. I’ve got rid of junk in the garage for more than I paid. Collecting next week. That’s if he don’t want it posting. Now to get rid off my two inflatable kayaks. Which is heavy.
