And the serpentine pulley system or the chrome pulley, the shiny oil filler with a tiny breather pipe..
I get a little condensation on my manifold, its probably my own fault as I have a 009 on it, alloy filler with a small pipe on...........maybe not though. The 009 is running fine no real flatspot. The small pipe connecter has a standard size pipe on to the standard filter and I know the heat risers are clear to the manifold....the only thing I have not done yet is connect the vac pipe from the carb to the air filter, couldnt find any pipe the right size....
your 009 is not fine ...everything else has been altered to compensate for you running a dizzy off a stationary engine
I do know the 009 is not the best or standard for the vw and when rebuilding the engine recently if I could of found a decent vac unit I probably would of fitted one but they all tend to be poo....saying that though I dont think the condensation would be down to which ever distributor had been fitted..
There is no point in finding a vacuum hose from the carb to the air filter unless its either an oil bath filter or a paper insert filter box one with hot air picked up below the tinware. I saw oil bath air cleaners on sale for £10 at Volksworld at the Megabug 'total crap stuff' stand outside on the left of the grandstand. I got a degree crank pulley with the numbers rubbed off for £4 as a part of a crank timed ignition project... Worth asking them. The vacuum pipe is 3mm ID these days I use silicone air hose for fish tanks as its cheap and heat resistant. And you might be able to get a proper Bosch SVDA for £50-£70 somewhere like the Slough Swapmeet on 5th November in ....wait for it... Slough. Get there hours before it opens as the massive car park is too small.
Interesting read..I wonder if this is my problem..there is condensation on my carb!!!! And loads of excess fuel going through the system on the gas meter
If you can get up to 40mph plus on a flat road with 25 C air temps.. Like driving on the freeway through O.r.a.n.g.e County CA near EMPI HQ where all these "silly" modifications originate...
Many thanks all, exhaust heat risers were well and truly blocked, now cleaned out and went for a 60 mile run yesterday no problems - you're never to old to learn Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Of course the heat risers were blocked with soot from being tuned rich to compensate for the EMPI unnecessary Bling Fest .. First step in a back to stock saga....
