No work on the bus today, just a bit of planning with the cabinet maker. However, our little bit on the side is being treated to some new boots & panties. Mrs Monkey ha been saving hard and this morning we took the bug on a nice leisurley cruise from Shardlow to Moira, just outside Ashby de la Zouch. Keith Reynolds of Kens Customs is doing the front & rear seats! They need it He gets the bus on the 18th Spring springing just outside Weston on Trent The historic Swarkestone Causeway, built in the 13th century it was the furthest south Bonnie Prince Charlie got! Arriving at Keiths Why Marge needs some TLC...
Nice bug. I went to take ours out of the garage for a run today but couldn't because the steering lock has stuck on the van which is in the way! Guess what I am fixing atm?
For one reason and several others, Marge has been in storage for the last 2 years! I guess you can only drive one at a time and with the syncro needed close by for the refurb and the bus needed for escapism the little bug has taken a back seat. My Mrs is amazing in that for a start she puts up with me and additionally is the driving force behind our travels and lifestyle! Marge deserves to be driven & Mel misses doing so immensely. So last night we jumped in the bus with a view to digging out the bug and swapping her for a few weeks with the bus so Mrs Monkey can enjoy the summer in her pride and joy. I knew the old battery was toast so we bought a new one for less than 40 quid. We spun the motor over three times without the coil connected to get the 2 year old fuel up to the cylinders and a coating of oil round the engine. Connected it back up and she immediately fired up! Fresh fuel in on the way to the garage sorted the lumpy running and a quick roadside grovel under the back with a handful of gungum plugged the split in the silencer! roadside repairs in Market Rasen on the way to a timed MOT. No pressure! Going in..... going up.... Mrs Monkey is weird. She took this of the underside and has been proudly studying it The result of 2 years of neglect cost us a new battery, a tin of exhaust repair and 45 quid for the MOT.... She passed!!!! Yay, so this afternoon I treated her to a wash and wax
Cheers pal! Rather uncharacteristically I don't think we've any on board! Beer, wine G&T but no fizz. I suspect Mrs M & Mrs Dicky drank it all last weekend
Oh apparently there is. Just relaying your comment and have been informed there's one chilling in the bus fridge waiting for our return to the farm!
Looking good and been toying about getting another one after having to sell my immaculate GT Beetle to buy my Late Bay a few years ago
Marge had some love this weekend. This little bug is so reliable we almost take her for granted... Front drums adjusted and new gear on the rear
