  2. Mines a December 72 but all late exterior and (I've been told) early interior as the wipers on stalk not twist switch plus all my wirings weird as some is labelled in the manuals as late and early as I had to use 3 different diagrams to put all my wiring back to getting everything working

Early steering wheel and 73 model year indicator stalks. 3 lever heating controls, which are 73 model year too.

  4. Oooh wouldn't surprise me then if vw just said balls to it put these on and get rid of it lol, it's an untouched bus from a scrappy in California just a lot of bits not work and it came straight from a hospital to the scrapper?

The bus is right externally and internally. This whole thread is dissing the parts bin idea some had and establishing your bus and other Aug 72 - Aug 73 as one year only!

  6. I know of a Jan 1973 build date Devon conversion with 3 levers, grey dials, brake fluid under driver seat, petrol flap, key in sliding door lock. Indicators and lights on 1 stalk, wipers and wash on other stalk. Pictures not words on stalks. Hope that helps.

  9. Is the Steering wheel on the wrong side for the discussion on this thread, or is it all 73 model years?

All 72/73 model year. I reckon there's a little leeway regarding deluxe extras, but otherwise they are all as described in your post.

I'm reckon lowlight crossovers had the early speedo and it was changed for grey speedo in the highlight crossover in Aug 72.

  13. My Dec 72 built has the chrome two tone speedo and high indicators

I always thought the grey speedo was 74 MY

You sure it's the OG speedo? I am nearly convinced that they were all light grey and went to very dark grey with KM's in Aug 73

  15. Yes I'll take a pic of the date on rear

It's just that most everyone else inc mine had all light grey. Does yours have the trip meter?

  17. I switched the original speedo for a trip one . But I still have the original and it's the chrome one ...[IMG]

Brilliant picture. Doesn't really make sense of the speedo thing on here though. It just confuses it more :confused:

Here's a theory. Your speedo looks like this one without the trip meter.

It does not look at all like the regular 73 model year speedo. This one...

It does however look very much like the deluxe speedo, but with the slot not cut out where the trip meter should be. Do you think it could have been blanked off purposely by the factory. I like it btw!
