Now then, don't be knocking plumbing! It makes a change from just doing gas work :)

  3. Yeah but I can't recall a time when doing gas work meant I was covered in someone else's poo.

  4. I teach drama and and a bit of Latin in a posh private school. I get good holidays but a lot of pressure to deliver A grades. I'm not particularly enjoying it at the moment but I don't know what else to do...

  5. Yay!

  6. Being serious for a second my work history is as follows
I am a time served electrical & electronics engineer but haven't done that for a number of years.
I have been a German wine salesman, a pressure washer service engineer, debt collector, Miele washing machine & white goods service engineer & civil servant.
Currently I am self employed as a builder/handyman/dogs body but spend 4 days a week working for Accrington beetles & campers in the bodyshop mainly but we do everything. Also produce, supply & sometimes fit all manner of VW upholstery, seat covers, rock & roll bed cushions etc.
Phew! No wonder I'm knackered!

Electronic engineer. Started in Philips Research on efficient radio transmitters and radio modems, then Philips Semiconductors working on analog cellular radio , CD and DCC audio recorder chips. GPS receivers , early smartphones with Linux.
Then made redundant ended up writing code and on board ship support for OBC oil survey software - steering ships and recording positions.
Now a software engineer writing C code for new combined satellite and AIS distress beacons, and Windows software for programming their ID codes and printing legally required labels.

I try to avoid any work that may involve some else's poo, I prefer taps and bathrooms.

Ooh, sounds like a job for a drainage expert - that is my stock reply when answering a call about a blocked toilet :)

  20. Worked in the motortrade for 34 years, started as mechanic and worked up to an Aftersales Manager at the local Nissan dealer. Walked away from all the stress this year to work for a local Air conditioning company, in Spalding. Man in a van that can take me all over the place and I love it
