...go over the tops of the bulkheads behind the front seats? How do they come off and what's underneath them?
From memory, they're riveted on to the bulkheads. If you take the trim panel off, all will be revealed...
it wont matter if you muck them up they are only £130 a pair new .....just for the side bits https://www.customandcommercial.com...alk_through_side_trim_pads_black_68-79_20291/
You need to remove the trim panel from the back of the bulkhead first - just like the door cards they are held on with door card clips , which clip into part of the black side and top covers. Once removed you can then see that the black cover has an inner metal frame that extends below the plastic top ( or side ) and is normally riveted onto the metal bulkhead. On the opposite side ( ie facing the driver or passenger seat, there are a row of screws through the edge of the cover into the metal bulkhead frame - normally with a metal spreader bar in there as well.
I spent the last 11 years, yes 11 YEARS!!, looking for a pair of the top covers for my bay. I already had the side bits. Finally got some at the VW Action autojumble for £20 each
Just trying to make my mind up where to put a telly. Im still not sure whether I want it fixed permanently or easily removable to stow away when it's not being used. It'll slide behind my seat easily and I've experimented with some webbing straps and it hangs perfectly from two straps screwed into the mounting holes on the back of the telly. I've just got some turn button fasteners and now I'm playing about trying to decide between hanging from the back of the passenger bulkhead, clipped onto the rear of the passenger or drivers headrest, hanging from the back of the cab frame over the walk through or even hanging from the Poptop. I'll mince about for a few days until the ideal solution reveals itself to me.
