5k run

  1. It's not that nut
The pedal and spindle screw out of the crank arm as a unit
There's two flat sides to the spindle the old fashioned spanner fits

  3. I know that.
The peddle wobbles around on the spindle badly
So either that nuts not tight or the bearings are completely shot.
15 mm spanner fits the other side

  4. Wedge a flat head screwdriver against the nut and turn the pedal

  5. Wedge a flat head screwdriver in and turn the pedal to tighten the nut
Or remove the black part of the pedal as its possibly hel of by 4 Allen bolts

  6. Just had a proper look
The black part of the pedal is rivited on.
The bearings shot there's only one ball in there.
Looks like I'll have to chuck that frame and buy some new pedals

  7. Research before you chuck the frame it's an old school Marin frame , someone might swap it for some pedals
It might be junk but then again you could say that about a lot of the parts we all need for our vans
Or take bearings from the other pedals or buy a pack from a bike shop

if the frame would fit my 6"3 height i would swap for a pair of good pedals

  9. there is four screws missing from your light clusters ,but with your ocd they still balance...:D

Fort means strong en France ....:hattip:

  10. The other holes had wood screws in when I got the van
You didn't used to own it by any chance did you
I'll get some more proper fasteners eventually
There's more important things on the list first.

You should be able to strip the pedal with a long 1/4 drive socket, bearings are tiny and cheap

  13. I don't own any deep 1/4 inch drive sockets or even a 1/4 inch extension bar

  17. Have you given up the running for cycling now then? I thought the idea was to train and do the 5k run and now you have bought a bike.

You are getting a few muscle aches and pulls after the running which is to be expected. We said to take it slowly and build up to give your body a chance to adjust. If you are pounding the pavements, you would need quality running shoes. better for your knees and ankles to jog or run on grass.

Try lots of walking, slow and fast and uphills to improve your fitness. You could mix it up and do some jogging and running along the way. I still walk every day and did 3 hours of bowls today walking up and down the green. Its all about doing lots of exercise and improving fitness. I don't do supplements, just eat proper meals.

Products contain a cocktail of ingredients which are not natural but synthetic so may upset your digestion.

Cycling will help with your fitness but it isn't going to help particularly with your running because it trains different muscles. It's a good thing to do if you have aches and pains though and want to keep training

  20. The cycling is to keep the fitness up in days between running as well as keep my mind positive
I'd like to build a good general all round fitness rather than one specific thing
At some point I'd like to incorporate some swimming aswell
Variety is the spice of life I'm told
Plus I think I'd get bored of just running all the time.
