http://www.campingandcaravanningclu...vc:c|adp:1t1&gclid=CJq3hKG_2s0CFeop0wodrgcFFQ After Dent we moved up to Keswick and stayed on the Camping and Caravan Club site on Derwentwater, bit pricey (someone got the booking muddled up) but handy for walking and the town. Loved it up there but felt we had not visited the Lakes, merely scratched the surface!
That site is on our radar too - we were in the C&CC Troutbeck site near Penrith last year - very quiet with the best shower block ever. .
Gusbus behaved spot on, 450 miles total, had a great week. The only regret was going to Clitheroe, looking back we wished we went to Camperjam via Dent instead. Weather was wet but it didn't stop us getting out into Keswick
It is but its a good base. I used to like a few nights around various points and then camping here as good facilities, easy shopping and walk into town. plus some lovely easy or difficult walks from here.
Keswick is only 25 minutes from here but we still don't get there very often unless hiking boots or a jacket are needed.
Cant recall where you are but did used to spend quite a few weekends in Workington as had scootering chums up there. Was strange to just drive through the lakes without stopping.
I'm in Maryport only 6 miles north of Workington. The run through the lakes on the A591 is one of the highlights of any journey heading south.
Keswicks lovely, a good Base to tour the northern lakes, loads of good pubs and food as well Great site that camping and caravan one but theyre not big fans of me and Carl.
Yes. I remember now. 591 is fantastic. As a biker (will be again one day) ive always loved that stretch of the 66 past Bassenthwaite!
Actually the 591 from keswick down to Ambleside once memorised and taken at speed is an absolute white knuckle ride. Pillions nightmare lol.
