I have sort of ruled out HG, Simply because it drove okay coming back from Wales and was fine most of yesterday and all week, plus there is none of the usual signs, creamy oil etc. I haven't ruled out water pump or sticking stat, But ---- The radiator wasn't hot yesterday when the engine was very hot!
Yes mate. The truth is. I haven't done anything to her today. I finished painting the summer house and had a rest. See my reply to Rick and you earlier. I agree, but will sort it Tuesday when I have some time. It isn't rocket science mate. Just need more hours in the day.
And furnished it, made up a flatpack. lay temporary carpet, cooked over a barbecue for 8 ( including the head chef from top hotel in Ludlow) walked the dog, Went to the range, B&Q and Sainsgogs.... Taking dad to the hospital tomorrow, collecting a sofa bed and seagrass carpet if it's in stock, burying electric cable and going to work for a rest. Do the T25 on Tuesday
any water vapour coming out of the exhaust...? Just in case you did'nt know the stat allows the water to just run round the engine to get up to temp ,then it should open to let the hot into the rest of the system ,taking it out completly in summer is probably a good thing (no need for heating the cab ) and will rule it out...
I knew that. When we were kids we used to test them by putting them in boiling water to see if they opened.
No water from exhaust. Would like you to run through YOUR experience of the filling procedure though Mick. I have never completely filled a t25 from scratch. I imagine it's much the same as a normal watercooled engine except for the possibility of a air lock in the long pipes front to back.
The top hose is a good place to start,if you can undo and fill (darlek tank should fill) ,then fill the reserve tank half way ,then run the engine for five minures ,go to the front there is a bleed screw on the top of the radiator , unscrew that (not fully)wait for the air to come out ,as soon as water appears tighten ... check both bottles while playing.... Go for a run ,then try the rad again while the engine is running... There is a bleed scew on the engine , but it's a bit naff...
I was advised never to touch the engine one and sure enough when I did it broke I could not find a replacement so made a replacement out of copper pipe
Okay. I will heed that advice. I might have time later, but still have a tip trip and collect Dad from a hospital 12 miles away. How was your experience of bleeding the system Matt?
no problem it was a time ago but I think i jacked up the front filled it up ran started it and got it hot then increased the revs for a bit it check the leval with the revs up then turn it off and leave it for a bit 30min bleed it at the rad
mine broke as well... I like any car running so it pushes the air out ,but I suppose it might work ..... I do think if there is a bit of air trapped eventually it will end up in the dalek tank and not stay in the system long term ,the whole problem is vw put the engine in the back and radiator up front ,they should have put them both upfront... btw malc I don't get the shed thing , unless you converting it for a Turkish family...
Summer houses are popular over here. There is a sofa bed to go in and we will use it as a guest room and study.
i'd use the LT as a guest room ,a shed should always have man things innit ,empty tins of paint, half filled jam jars filled with assorted screws ,a old lawn mower engine etc... Looks like to me , you've been henpecked...
