  1. A quick guide to camping in area 17 en France (for everyone)

    1. If your bus is poorly ,stuggle to my house...;)

    2. If you want piece and quite ,go to @someone 's...

I know this elderly couple who just goes off for months spain, italy, crotia etc, they are inspirational ,she always says to me, go when your young ,you have no reason not to...(but I always invent some:rolleyes:)

Maybe when the last kid has flown the coupe....;)

I do love reading great adventures....:hattip:

  2. @Victoria great to hear that there is another exciting expedition heading out to be blogged and shared with us all, having the time to go for months rather than weeks turns a holiday into an adventure and doing it in a lovely T2 brings a smile where ever you go !

My only advice that I would add to all the great advice previously posted would be to avoid motorways / autoroutes where ever possible, mixing it with the lorries is no fun !

Really looking forward to reading all about it and all the best to all three of you.

  3. Definitely different requirements living in one to using it for a weekend. My needs have changed over the years. Big bed, big sound system and empty space is great for weekend camping session with loads of mates, it's less practical now for a full week camping with my partner. We bought a portable fridge, but that means taking something to put it in like an awning. I hate putting tents up, having the van used to mean I didn't have to.

I've now ditched the fridge and am hoping to do a week in Islay with no awning and just a coolbox, Possibly with a small pop up tent for storage and tarpaulin for cooking under if it rains! I'll let you all know how it goes, if we make it.

@Dicky when i first saw your van i thought it was a quality set up, so am surprised to see you are starting again with interior.
@zedders looks like you have it set up great for your changed requirements. I love being able to stand up to put my trousers on as well.

My needs have changed so in the future my van interior may have to, or I may have to get an additional vehicle for longer camping trips - no idea if that would be Jurgens or modern and luxurious!

The key thing is to use and enjoy whatever you have and @Victoria has a mega trip planned that many of us are envious of!

I agree @paulcalf tho I love my Landmark for looks etc and that it just makes me smile, it's not ideal for camping in. I think this is why I went back down the T4 route.

When I camped last weekend I had my hob, sink and fridge right there. I could shove stuff in the cupboards out the way. I put the poptop up but as a shorty it's not imperative but if Sarah comes with me she complains about lack of height (the van, not me!).

I bought a 3 way fridge/cool box and set up a hob in a table so could do stuff in the awning but it became a bit of a faff hoiking stuff about.

That said it worked well at a couple of festivals last year. I just got narky as had to get out of bed to make a cuppa :)

  5. Well you have such a choice of vehicles, you can pick different ones for different occasions!
I have no cooking facilities in my van. I fill a big thermos at night, which means I can have a nice brew without having to get up and out of the van!

  6. Thanks.
I've been wanting to travel for a few years and decide a month ago that there was no reason I could put it off another year.
It most probably helps that I don't have children yet.

  7. Thanks Neil. Definitely planning to try a miss the motorways. No need when top speed is 55mph (and the lorries are scary!!)

  8. thanks so much. Having little experience of camping and what luxuries might be available might be a blessing.

  9. haha definitely don't want to travel to far for a coffee in the morning!

  10. We're definitely glampers - used to take a coffee machine camping with us! I'm trying to limit what I take these days and now we have the bus I'm determined not to fill it with junk we really don't need...

  13. @Victoria we have seen pics of the dog, now we need some of the bus!

I've just noticed from the profile picture that you have an e a r l y bay (low indicators), this forum is called the late bay.

I feel robbed and i'm sure all other forum members will be furious, we have all been giving you advice and you don't even own a late bay!

7 pages, 7 bloody pages you have had from us.

Now post some bloody pictures of your bus, i'm obviously only joking we don't care that you have an prototype bay, 'they' also have a forum but they aren't as fun so you may as well stay here.

  16. Oh goodness. It's so typical of me to get the wrong forum...sorry gals and guys!
If anything it must show how much I'm in need of help. What am I doing going thousands of miles and don't even know what I'm driving...oops!!

  17. no @Victoria you are on the right forum , none of us know what we are driving on here :D some think they have T4s and T5s

It's a 72? That's a crossover, part early, part late. Some say these are the cream of the crop, with prototype bay good looks and some better later mechanics.
