  3. No I wouldn't,it was the fact that I got the heater to work the other day and that was when the slight smell of fuel was evident, the van isnt on the road at the moment getting the problems sorted out ready for spring hopefully

that would be why fuel came out from there after a warm engine fuel up returning from RTTS in 2006 !!

  8. All of mine were like that when I got my van and the fuel hoses were nearly as bad.

Renew all fuel hoses, fuel lines and breather pieces and move the fuel filter out of the engine bay to under the fuel tank outlet. I replaced the metal fuel pipe section as well and a new grommet. Well worth doing it all.

  9. Great thread, make sure you use proper fuel hose clips that tighten up evenly unlike standard jubilee clips. My new carbs came with the standard jubilee clips and then leaked when I had the van full with the family, now replaced!!!

Jubilee worm drive clips are proper fuel hose clips; it’s worth reading this: http://www.volksbolts.com/faq/fuelhose.htm#Clips

If your new carbs leaked the hose was probably too large for the barb.

  11. Off to check mine right now, don't ever want a fire!!!

  12. Mine was the fuel line splitting http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/f-f-f-fire.53656/

Whilst they were sorting her out they also discovered the fuel filler pipe was rotted so that was swapped out as well.

We haven't been out camping in her since but that changes this weekend. Aside from the great advice regarding pipework in this thread mine would be to ensure you have a fire extinguisher on board and that you shake it regularly if its powder based.

  13. Hi @Chrisradioman,

Thanks for this. I've had a look at mine today and taken some photos, would you mind taking a look and advising if everything is in order?

Family were all ok according to twitter.

Can't say it was fuel lines.

@DriftingBear you may want to move the fuel line filter out of the engine bay. It should be under the van.

  17. image.jpeg Over the past year I replaced the fuel breather hoses, main hose connecting onto the fuel tank, however still had an intermittent smell of petrol, one day there and the next gone. Really annoyed me especially when camping. The only thing I hadn't replaced was the fuel filler neck hose so I ordered one to replace before even looking at the existing one. Anyway this is what I found today. It's knackered! Replaced and no more petrol fumes, for now...........

  18. Yea when i done my 3.5 remake i replaced every thing, i use stainless steel braided fuel hose to contect every thing up and a alloy fuel filler from a cosar on the otherside of the firewall. Plus ive got a autofire extinguisher just incase and another large extinguisher in the van.. when you are carrying 70 ltr lpg tank under the back seat plus your petrol you cant have enough safety ... it would go up like a small bomb if anything would happen..
