Ta, there's a red light (white wires) summat to do with polarity being correct on site?

    Duh yeah lol, cheers mate.

  6. Dont ask me that question but i believe....... The white wire is a functional earth that allows the rcd to operate should the neutral become disconnected. Anything deeper than thatband im back to the books... Did you get any destructions as they should give you some info!

yes it says it's a "polarity light"

  8. Interesting!

    It says this.
The Consumer unit is ready for installation and includes a mains polarity warning lamp. This is an important feature, as reveresed polarity is potentially lethal and quite commonplace particularly on the continent.

  10. Well i never! Thats quite useful. Does it tell you if you have an earth?

    this is the full blurb
For safety the value must not exceed the maximum that the circuit is designed for. Some people like to choose a lower value that will avoid nuisance tripping of the sites circuit breakers. Although most leisure vehicles have a 16A inlet capacity, many campsites have much lower rated MCB's in their distribution boxes.

Double pole MCB's are now a requirement in vehicles due to the additional potential dangers involved with electricity supplied by hookup cables in vehicles. These include the possibility of reversed polarity and earth faults etc.

  12. Ok not that informative then. Wire it up and get it plugged in.mif you are lucky you may never know if that light actually works!

i think its basically a led wired so that it lights if the polarity is reversed

i honestly don't envy you real electricians, the rules and regs must be a nightmare, and i dread to think how many dodgy installs are about.
