It depends on your passenger seat. If it hooks on you need to get a later self-supporting one.

Absolutely. I did take it seriously and get tooled up a bit, I spent a day doing that and working out how to thread the machine and set the thread tension. I had no time expectations, I let it take as long as it took, to do it as well as i could.

If I'd managed to get someone to make the curtains to my drawings, I'd now be stuck with a set that didn't open. That was a bit of luck.
The seat covers were easy. I'm getting better at ironing, pinning and sewing in a straight line.

More fun than welding, you can do it in the warm and you don't get dirty. Once i've made the more complicate rear one with the zip I'll be happy. I'd pay someone else to do the cab seats, it's not that easy.

I would caution that if you cock up with vinyl or leather (aim wrong or run out of/break the thread, you just made a "tear along the dotted line" with the needle. Actual material is much more forgiving, I wouldn't have atempted vinyl or leather.

  9. I can see a nice little `retirement` sideline :D

I had to buy almost 2x as much material to make the stripe go that way but I'm glad I did.

I could make a "Prince of the Hippies" Waistcoat with the off-cuts.

  13. Nice job, you almost got the stripes to line up on both cushions ;)

One pattern repeats left to right and other right to left so can't line up - you made me look.

  15. You'd have said the same to me, hehehe.

    Seriously though, looks well executed.

You can be sure it'll look stretched and saggy in no time.

  17. The only ones that don't are the ones that never get used. I really must get around to doing mine one day

  18. We are still talking seat covers

Last but not least - Hard work this one as a proper all round cover with a hidden zip. Several metres of stitching had to be painfully cut and done again but got there in the end.
    Large whisky poured. :)

I started at 9am so it's taken me 10 hours to make that. lol I think I'll leave this as a possible future enterprise.

It's better stuff than I thought, slept on and no damage done. :)
