Paint it a bright colour and you could use it as a door stop.

  3. Had a day at IWM Duxford. Some nice machines but unfortunately the American hanger was closed. Liked the Land Warfare display but doesn't fit the thread title.

Wanted to do a 'Dr Strangelove' on this.

  10. Love old aircraft, I'm part of a team of guys rebuilding Tornado ZA326 to fast taxi status at Bruntingthorpe.

  11. It was a shame but it gives me chance to go back. Might even get chance to walk through Concorde unlike his visit where my youngest started to gip as soon as we walked through the door. Thought she was going to throw up all over the inside so had to go straight back down the stairs. Nothing is easy?

  13. Can only find info about it coming through Newark on Thursday at 10.30am heading north. Think I'll have to get my anorak out as the East Coast mainline is only 500 yards away from my house.

The world's most famous steam locomotive will be passing through Nottinghamshire next week as it returns after a ten-year overhaul costing more than £4 million.

Setting off from King's Cross Station station at 7:40am next Thursday, February 25, The Flying Scotsman will blast along the stretch of track where it broke the 100mph speed record back in 1932, as it heads north towards York.

The inaugural journey is scheduled to arrive at Newark Northgate around 10:30am and train enthusiasts will be able to catch a glimpse of the famous engine, which will be coloured in its traditional British Rail apple green livery.

@Jono1249 this could be the reason for cancellation

TRAINS are running up to 90 minutes late through Grantham on the East Coast Main Line this morning.

This is due to emergency services are dealing with an incident between Peterborough and Huntingdon.

  16. Sounds like someone has headbutted a train again.

  20. Fortunately not, my mate had a couple in one week. One literally dived off Newark platform in front of a HST traveling through at speed. The teeth ended up a mile up the track whilst his torso was in tatters. Strangely a Police surgeon from Derbyshire was there, got his stethoscope out to check for breathing before promptly throwing up.
I worked a fair bit with a Sergeant from BTP as they had to deal with them regularly a it's on rail property. The last time I saw him, he had just taken a statement from a train driver who had just hit a woman. He said the CCTV on front of the train showed the woman walk onto the track and brace herself for impact.
A couple of years ago whilst off duty I was with my kids at the crossing when a man went onto the track. I had to hold him down whilst the train passed and phone for help. Wouldn't have been good for my kids either watching that.
Whilst these people are in state of desperation, they really don't think of the emotional impact on the witnesses.
