I made some years ago which were fab - so simple ! A full window material flap ,wired through the top and the material sewn into a simple flat flap which rolled up . Basically , you undid the sewn in tie backs and dropped the blind down . When you drive off it simply rolls up out of the way , above the window and secured with the tie up straps Might rethink mine
Our curtain is on a glide rail thing above the door so we need to untuck the bottom before we open the door. Obviously over the years we have sometimes forgotten and all that happens is it untucks itself for about half the length and then the door stops because the curtain is bunched up so nothing gets damaged. It's just a bit embarrasing. If your top rail is on the door itself then you should be able to open and shut the door with the curtain open or shut.
I did think that as I wrote it. If you had wire top and bottom and thin material for the curtain it might work ok. Thicker material might be too thick to clear the van once it was bunched up when the curtains open. Another downside would be the curtain getting dirty or wet when the doors open.
My rail is on the body following the top roller. I can see it would hang too far inside the van. I think I'll do what bob has and fit a springy net curtain thing on the door.
Spot on . Mine is wired to the door , the plus being there`s no fighting with the curtain when nature calls after a light ale or two , the downside being it does get grubby ...
i fitted my curtain to the sliding door on my early. I could have done it better but the door did open and shut with it in place. What i couldn't do was leave it in place so the door would open with the curtain open.
Mine does but i do have a bit more room as it`s a cut panel van door AND soft (old!) unlined curtains ...
ok for now but when he's sowing on the boat he could very well be below water level where as you know its colder
With our T4 westie and with the landmark we had a mixture of poppers and rails. The landmark has a curtain that goes across behind the front seats to shut the cab off. I quite like the idea of putting magnets in the turn up bit and on the van body. Btw @zedders they look v nice
That front one looks brilliant. Just a minor point though, unless you sort out keeping the lower part of the curtain nearer the van everyone will be able to see your pants when you go to bed.
We're in the process of making our own curtains. We have put a couple of magnets in the bottom of the curtain to stick them to the van.
I'm planning getting some studs to make tie backs so I can add a few to hold the curtains here and there. I wouldn't want anyone to catch a glimpse of my undercrackers, however tasteful.
Poppers /studs are fab for holding curtains to the van body and keeping the light out or letting folk see your undergarments
