Okay then - decision made. No BBQ at Tatton this year. People are welcome at our house which is about 12 miles from Tatton just north of Macclesfield. I've sent PMs to everyone who had expressed an interest - hopefully they will get through.

ha, it's a shame i have some great pictures and memories from that year i went, we camped out a few days before close by and then went on to tatton, i had no heating in my bay and drove all the way up the m6 with 2 pairs of trousers on and loads of clothes and gloves and hat lol

I'm thinking that Tatton may have run it's course - we could do with a pub to camp at where we could have a bit of a meet up as well.

I don't think we'll run out Neale. I've hidden my malt collection though ;)

i think the trouble is it's just a bit close to xmas? a lot of people are sorn and if there's no camping it takes great motivation, also as i mentioned a few weeks ago the "glory days" of this site where admin/mods organised meets have gone by the wayside, luckily a lot of people who came here 5 or so years ago made great mates and still camp together, facebook i guess is slowly becoming the way a lot of the people from the past who i don't see here communicate with each other, to be fair this forum is still quite popular - a fair few i am a member on have fallen by the wayside and are like ghost towns.

I think this event has suffered from drifting away of people who went to the first ones. It isn't easy to organise things these days because of the people who don't come on any more but are good mates. It has meant that this has been on FB and on here. It's a shame though because the early events that we went to were where lasting friendships have been made. We need to try to keep some camps going to give newbies the chance to have what us oldies have.

Michelle is going to have a chat with her Boss at Harwick Hall once Christmas is out of the way (theyre all busy with that) to see if they would set aside an area where we could all meet up for the day.

She says leave it with her till January :D

maybe you mods and admin need to chat and see if you can have a "camp co-ordinator" and maybe push an "official" springcamp or summercamp, at the moment techenders seems to be the event that brings the most members off here together but i think the mechanical aspect of that puts some people off, a genuine camp in a nice location with a pub and a nice walk locally with no other distractions is always a winner.

  12. Can you arrange some snow too. Nice place!

Maybe - I have a feeling it would end up being me! The VW shows used to have a bit of a TLB presence too but after 5 years of those I'm struggling to raise the enthusiasm.

i understand you on the show front although now i have the T5 i have the incentive to pop to the odd one or two in 2016 to see "new" items, that said camperjam for example costing around £100 to camp in a field with no hook up doesn't interest me anymore, i do think pre booking of a campsite with pub etc is the future i'd also say that if i did go to a show i'd probably camp nearby and go as a day visitor, i think you're probably right the site was proactive in the past and maybe newer members don't realise what they are missing in joining in - who knows.

Normally I would offer to help sort events, but because of my job and family commitments I can rarely do the TLB events. I do try to do a couple each year TE's, dubfreeze and maybe vanfest, but sometimes even if I book and agree a event I get called into work or family stuff takes president. This is the problem with having a family who only camp when everything is spot on - weather, place, company etc. and a job that is quite demanding of time.

  17. Its a great deal easier for people to book and turn up at mainstream events as ours come across as quite cliquey. You Have to be a little outgoing as you have to rock up and approach people who seem to be groups of friends. Not easy. Techenders is good in a away as the ice breaker is actually askingbsomeone a question usually and the conversation goes from there. Thats my opinion and you may not agree (im a bit awkward and antisocial anyway). Not sure what the best format should be. To be honest i find it difficult to find the time to do events thes days. I fancy Tan Hill.

@Dicky agreed on it's hard if you're not outgoing to just rock up and join in hence me saying that years ago on here when the events were "official" forum meets it was easier, my personal experience was thus, join this site feb 2011 give and take whatever flack or ribbing i got (is it here yet etc) and the 1st time i'd ever met anyone was camperjam that year, during 2011/12 i went forum meet barmy and did loads of meets - all of them publicised well on here after that i'd made many good mates and did a few more personal ones but techenders always is my "go-to" event of the year, down to the fact i have already booked 3 days off work next year one is my birthday (i never work it) and the other two are t/e's.... even though i don't have the bay or intend to do any work on the T5 i'll still always go because i enjoy it so much, the rest of my camping trips have slowly gone back to how me and the mrs used to be before this site, just us and the dogs.

  19. The Events calendar needs a bit of TLC also, i was thinking of moving my get together by maybe a week or two, but i have no idea what dates would clash or not
