serious question - i know a novelty... who else doesn't feel like they have been at war in their recent history? there's obviously none of us here who remember te 2nd world war although there has been a few wars we have been involved in since, i think for me the falklands was probably the last one that seemed to grab me as a "proper" war, do you think that's because it was still a visible enemy and it seemed like a good old fashioned war? even the gulf wars didn't seem to hit home and overly concern me. Does anyone get what i mean or feel the same? this isis stuff to me just seems something that i can't get my head around.
I think its how attached you might be , talking to my mum who was and knowing what she went thru , also i have a good friend who works in iraq . Who knows how bad it could be if a modern war took place in our country , but one things for sure they dont miss now , its who they hit is scarey. We arnt being shown that really are we , or have i missed sumat. I find it hard to comment, cos a life as i/we know it , is not the same as a life as others may see it ,just a thought not my def opinion. How secure are we ???
obviously you guys who were in it will do, i meant normal joe public, i think with modern instant news it just seems unreal in a way? kind of like a film - no disrespect, you get what i mean?
I am sat in traffic on the m6 . I just read some of that.. Tbh I had heard talk of it in the past, but had no idea of its name!
Just listening to Ben. Good argument and dare i say it, a leaders speech and a rousing speech but all his arguments could have argued for exactly the opposite. Same reasoning, different outcome.
I remember the Falklands but wasn't really concerned about it as I didn't understand the implications, other than an Uncle was flying out their "refuelling off Ascension"..that was a long way away. The big one for us was the Gulf War 1 kicking off, it was excitement as it was televised & a few of us sat watching the first night unfold in front of us - again it was a long way away, we was all a bit older and wondered if it would impact us at all. This time, the village where we lived had one of the locals head into it, he was Army (may have been Para's, Im not sure) and my same Uncle, same aircraft but different continent - it meant a bit more this time. The way isis is beheading people does concern me, Paris was/is worrying, not so much for me but for our kids futures - Im not sure what to believe from tv and newspaper, is it going to get worse in Britain, who knows. Our kids are the future.
i have been thinking of the future alot of late and it is scarey not knowing what our children or grandchildren will have to endure , who knows ?? How do we make sure they have a future though mark . One big one could wipe so many out . Should we be building a robot army ??Media frenzy can be very very dangerous imo .
No wonder there's so many lorry crashes these days. Malc, that wasn't your lorry bumping that car on the news earlier was it?
We have to make sure, as good people, we bring our kids/grandkids up correctly, that's a start, I believe. They will have their own views, for sure but when they are adults, they will pave their own way..good ones hopefully! I don't think robot armies are the answer, if they go wrong, god knows what will happen! The media are not helping, merely blinkering to suit an endgame. They are as equally bad as the terrorists!
what i ment by a robot army is where we ours dont get killed , weapon only if you get what i mean. Anyway looks like the decision has been made so ,,,,,, hold tight everyone .
