i like it makes a difference to have a new programme where you just simply watch it for what it is , no voting people off , no "celebrity" panel earning millions from othere aspitations . none of the usual comedians on it that are in all the other comedy programmes , steven fry, jimmy carr and the like personally i was dissapointed when they just missed finding the gold at the end of the last series , but that would have been the end of the series i suppose
start of this series was the same, 1st few minutes set up them just missing the gold, it's a way of showing them as anti-hero types, nearly men, gives us empathy towards them so we care i guess.
Loved it... although i chuckled at the same jokes as the mother in law, which made me worry! The delivery is so subtle and well executed, especially Mckenzie Crook
Just catching up with episode 2... The Westy is making more of an appearance, but side markers on a van that has been driven from Germany? I smell a rat.
It's on German plates, possibly American imported to Germany? Possibly retro fitted lights? They don't light up anyway (he drove it in the dark last night) or possibly we are the only ones who'd notice (I imagine the detectorists forums are as anal about the detecting methods lol)
Suspect the BBC crew sought a LHD bay, found a US import and slapped fake German plates on it.... crettins.
been having a twitter convo with adam tandy the director of detectorists, it's been nominated for best comedy in the broadcast awards plus best multi channel progtamme, they're just finishing the christmas special, he wouldn't let on if series 3 is coming though, i pointed out i thought there was something "fishy" about peter and he replied "what do you expect? he drives a volkswagen!" i think i've over nerded him now though 'cos i asked if he knew the van was usa spec but on german plates....
he replied to me, they got the van off an american sergeant in the army pay corp who was the 11th owner.
Best comedy on Terrestrial by a country mile. Although good to see Peep Show back, we've sorely missed Superhans. Oh, and @rickyrooo1 .......STALKER!
I watched the first three episodes of series two last night. Brilliant. Where can I get series 1? Also The Dirt Sharks!! Amazing The Dirt Surfers, even better, actually laughed out loud at that.
The BBC recently announced / launched their iPlayer store... It may be there or on YouTube until the been go hunting!
i really like "simon and garfunkel" the main one with the curly hair really makes me laugh.... we've taken to randomly shouting "HELLO THERE!" at work....... series 1 has just gone off iplayer so you tube or a pirate feed somewhere i guess, as said the "new" purchase off iplayer thing is good, think it's about £9.99 to buy in digital form on there.
