Zig unit as a split charge relay?

  1. My split charger stopped working over the summer and I've finally thought I had better replace it but ive just had a thought, can I use my zig cf 2000 as a split charger? I've done some research and it appears possible, what do people think? Anyone got any experience of this?

  2. ordinarily you'd charge the leisure battery from a designated split charge relay and the zig simply acts as a distribution board for your interior 12v stuff...on 240 hook up, the zig can be rigged to charge both your leisure battery and your starter battery, by fitting a 10A bridging fuse between the two outputs (not even mentioned in the zig manual!)...you'd pull the fuse before starting up. Presumably, you're hoping to use the zig as a replacement for a standard split charge relay....if it's doable according to zig, then why not?...Personally, for what a standard relay costs, and considering how straightforward they are to install, I'd stick with a relay and ask your zig to do as little as possible
