a ZF one and says vw 214 415 049 h and zf nr. 732099514. 3 Same one as this I think although been on a shelf for over a decade I think.... Never used. http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares_Steering-box-RHD-1973-79-NEW_act_shop.product_pID_85714_lang_EN_country_GB.htm?crumbStartPage=1 Could save you a few pennies.... Does not fit my 72 crossover unfortunately.
Okey dokey.. Bear with me.. In meantime how can you tell if a zf ine is nos rather than like the zf ne in the link? they look the same to me....?
Looks NOS to me. Underneath the VW part number and ZF part number that you quoted should also be stamped a date and serial number, eg, 91/523303. Also at the top of the circular plate that the above are printed on should be the VW logo and Audi rings logo.
Yes has all of those symbols... Is 88/517887 a date???? So 1988 is after baywindows were made? Confused....
Aha!! That makes sense.. i just assumed they stop making parts in 79.. Tsch... What's difference the between this one, made in 1988 and the zf in the link?
Lol Sorry (injoke) i think I had put £450 on here but deleted it when overwriting about ebay. Also since then have found out on technical that It can actually be fitted to my early 72.. by cutting a chunk of the chassis (see tech) Still willing to consider though or swap for a JK crossover front arch (about to come in stock) or a rustfree original metal one and something else? Or dosh of course.....
Starting bid on ebay now 250 unless somebody here wants it for that... Need to pay for my wheel arch so take advantage. Will take off ebay if anybody here wants it at that price let me know?
Ok £225 inc postage final bargain price as I now will have additional vet fees this month! Unless somebody dies buy it now on ebay for £450 in meantime
I am female and my technical skills resort to putting tape on my bus to stop me seeing rust! There was a thread in tech ... Maybe earlybay tech tho where somebody had cut bigger square hole to let late steering box fit... Aha .. Thread in gallery not tech .. Hope am allowed to link http://forum.earlybay.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28999&p=338763&hilit=late+bay+steering+box+conversion#p338763
