Youtube videos won't play after Shockwave Flash update. :(

Plus can you stream any other media?

 

Does it work with I.E or chrome ?

 

I don't know whether it's of any use but I had this on a pc once and nothing i did solved it so i just changed browsers and it sorted it.

 

Laptop is a couple of years old but was recently wiped clean for a fresh install of windows 8.1. YouTube video don't work in IE, Firefox or chrome. Other videos like those on dailymotion or vimeo work fine. Wonder if it could be a broadband problem instead of a computer problem.

 

Have you tried a wired connection as well as a wireless ?
Try factory resetting the router

 

Windows 8 is notoriously useless. That's why if you buy a new lappy with it on you'll automatically get a windows 10 upgrade. Wouldn't mind betting it's a windows 8 problem.

 

Pretty sure a free windows 10 upgrade is available to all windows 7 and onwards users.

 

I tried the windows 10 update when it came out and it was Marmite. Slowed the computer down so I went back to 8.1. Just tried youtube on the TV and it won't work on that or my phone so def talktalk wireless problem. Reset router and no difference. Will see if I can borrow an ethernet cable off someone and give wired connection a go.

 

Try a speedtest. Be interesting to see how fast/slow your internet is.

The fact that you can watch other media baffles me. Put a youtube video on the lowest quality like 144 or 240 and see if the loading bar moves to the right.

Not been blocked has it or something silly.

Speed test shows 14.69Mb/s download and 3.39Mb/s upload.

I've tried it on the lowest quality and no difference.

Not idea if its been blocked but its weird as it just seems to do it on that one site.
Its not a flash problem though as it doesn't work on the TV, android phone, kindle or iphone either. Loads of people on the talktalk forum are having the same problems for the past 3 days now.

You just wrote the word TalkTalk. There is the problem. Probably trying to throttle off Youtube to save money on installing proper bandwidth and have gone too far.
Go and pay more for your Internet from another supplier...

 

I was with sky but got fed up with the speed dropping off and patch internet.

It seems to be working again now. Everyone who had problems seems to have been within about 40 miles of Carlisle where it was flooded.

 

If water gets into the Internet, it can stop working...

 

Another clue to it being the ISP is that Youtube does not use Flash on Android at least.
My internet slows down when it rains hard as water gets in somewhere...

I moved from SKY to Plusnet and the difference was night and day. SKY was dreadful for dropping out.

Plusnet including phone = £22 a month

 

I have an issue now. New PC with Windows 10 and facebook / youtube videos wont play almost every time???

Seems a big issue with Windows 10 - getting right on my nerves

Cant find a fix, so many guessing.

 

So long as pornhub works, I wouldn't worry
