Thought I might as well put my engine build on as well.
1st time I've done one of these, and very limited facilities,
Started stripping weeks ago in the back of the bus!

Think the fact that the peg holes are ovalled and chewed means this crank is no good?

  4. Good on you, I rebuilt mine in my garage the winter before last, then took it down to lake Garda and back without a hitch, gives you great satisfaction after all that work when after cranking without ignition to get oil pressure up then it starts first time ,
Brill and what would we do without the old work mate bench,
    Steve,

As long as its not a race

The good news is yours looks worse than mine;) and i would appreciate if you could keep just ahead of me.

The dowel pins on the back of the crank are unrepeatable i think and the bearings are much more worn than mine but i am sure Paul will be along soon.

Paul will be well fed up with us by the time we get there.

    Good luck

You can borrow my Bentley if you like - nice if it had a few oily fingerprints on it ;)

Bit bored tonight so I pulled this engine apart, it is this one that didn't make it home from springcamp!
It was dark when I finished so I'll put some pics up tomorrow!
One cracked head, lots of very black burnt oil, one main bearing pin has ovalled it's hole in the case!
Split the case with my hands, convinced there was no sealant between the two halves but will check in daylight.

So question, what happens if you put a 2ltr type 4 in with a 1600 box?
I believe you have to change the input shaft?
Will it mate up with the bell housing, starter motor , accelerator cable etc?
