I reckon I'm going to have a crack at some in the new year and make @1973daisey drink some regardless of how it comes out.... Its going to called ' Carling crusher'

  4. it smells ok ..:p

    tbh
    it was an old kit,
    ive not made much recently
3 year old tin of malt ..
    the yeast didnt take,
so i added a different one

fermented well ..and cost around £3
so how bad does it have to be ...:)

it will be great after a few speckled hen,
its alway good at xmas with people popping in to pour a pint from the keg...

I've got books , I've read up a lot on brewing the hard way without kits and never really had the motivation...I blame 4 for a fiver deals...
But I reckon I'm going to give it a whirl

its sitting on the fermenting cabinet,

the keg is now inside at 18 deg to seconday ferment ..

  8. sounds nice ..

apparently some of the best ciders are fermented slowely through the winter
at low temps and with just the wild yeast on the skins to ferment .. in barns in massive vats..

Yep that's what i have done this year , let it's own yeast ferment ...i managed to get quite a mixed variety of apples .
In the past i have let the cider mature then drank it ...but i have found get it down ye neck as soon as it has settled ...it still retains a bit of natural sweetness ...leave it to long to mature and you may as well drink out a urinal .

I do rack off the crud sediment . The Court Royal cider variety is an interesting one ...best drinking that as soon as it has fermented ..bit like a Beaujolais
It seems to go coarse in taste left to long ...even the Dunkerton's court royal single variety is a bit coarse .

My uncle used to make strange brews. He was a big union man and brought some 100 and stupid % white whisky back from one of his visits abroad. On his new years eve party he presented me with a bottle of home brew and after my socks got blown off he told me it was full that whisky :D
