Since having my bus repainted two years ago I,ve had an internal radio aerial, one of them stick on the window things but the reception is terrible, I now have bought a nice chrome looking shiny one but to fit it i've got to drill two holes in the front nearside panel and I really cant bring myself to do it What should I do stick with the rubbish internal one or go for broke and drill my bus
you may as well be brave about it or keep having a crap reception. i've got a pull up one. which i have to replace twice. 1st i broke whilst jet washing it. the second one whipped a pidgeons arse. i was driving that hogh honest.
Drill it. I have no worries about doing it. If it goes wrong, l just get it welded up, paint it and start again.
I wish i was worried about drilling my bus, at the moment i just choppin on rot I personally wouldn't have a issue drilling a panel to fit something, just remember measure twice drill once and gave the bare edges a lick of paint
I know why you are in a dilemma. I too find it difficult to contemplate drilling on the outside. It probably gets easier after the first time Jx
i had this problem so i just stripped back the arial cable and screwed it to my earth point in the dash. Works fine
As long as you paint the bare metal or better still dap a dollop of grease on the hole then there shouldn't be a problem.
You can get aerials that glass mount on the inside and then have a stick on section with antenna on the outside of the glass. Got a DAB one on the work pick up and it is good, much better reception than the internal glass mount I have. Thinking of this for the van if I can't get a DAB aerial to match the standard side mounting on the front panel.
i drilled the doors the other week for my lights, just drilled the front panel for my badge, why not? why suffer and save it for someone else, use it in the now.
drill it buddy be brave, its only a vehicle!!! you will enjoy it even more with good clear tunes pumping out
