Wow, what a great response.......... So having looked at think on it we assume hydraulic lifters, so we have set them as per guides 2 turns in etc. still won't fire, the odd loud back fire from a furbelows build up, static timed as per it should be, replaced almost everything I can think of and in the process of swapping it all back double checking
all of the plug leads have been put back on in the correct firing order? check that the points gap is correct and not closed up. if all of these are correct then it should at least get started but run like cr@p. maybe have someone slowly turn the dizzy whilst cranking... it worked for me on an old landrover that wouldnt start
Yes check it against firing order several times now, it has electronic ignition but considering swapping it back to points to set it up, Only other thing I can think of is that the dizi drive may be in backwards?
Unlikely if youve already had it running. Are the plugs getting wet. If youvevfuel going and its not starting then they should be. If not the fuel issue. If valves are set and its static timed, leads in correct order and sparking then its got to be fuel.
turn the dizzy whilst cranking it and see if that does it, once running you can then time it properly. static timing may just be too far out
